First Events from LHC at LHCb

Part of the LHCb detector was turned on during the recent LHC beam test, and they have some neat pictures of the first events recorded from the LHC here.

Run 30764 Event 198 at LHCb during LHC beam test on August 22, 2008.

Awesome! Can you explain a little bit about what we are looking at? Thanks!

  2. Gooseman says:

    Hi Nikko,
these are tracks reconstructed by the Vertex Locator VeLo. These tracks are generated by protons hitting deliberately a collimator during the injection test and generating secondary particles, which are detected in the VeLo.

You can see in addition to the reconstructed tracks the r- and phi-strips of the Vertex Locator, which were triggered and highlighted by the software.

Good luck for all 4 experiments!

  3. duhvinci says:

These first events are the result of collisions between beam protons and detector atoms?

  4. Gooseman says:

These were collisions between beam protons and a beam stopper before LHCb, which was on purpose left in for initial tests. After these tests, the stopper was pulled out and the beam travelled through LHCb without problems to its planned destination at point 7.

Guys what are we allowing the bunch of idiot scientist do.

These scientist are not sure what they say. They change statements every moment and dont achieve much success for human kind. They have till now produced things which are mass destruction weapons or experiments.

And we are all silent even though we know that this experiment of LHC could eat the whole planet and it means the end of life indeed. Still Alas we are silent.
Wake up brothers and sisters and be against these crazy scientist and lets utilise our brain and money in making our earth better place to live for us and for the people to come.

SAVE OUR PLANET EARTH and let us not allow them to KILL IT!!!
