Yeah, I actually responded to that on Stephanie's blog, although I think I got the lemons and the lemonade backward on my first pass. ;) Angels and Demons is definitely good press for CERN, and CERN has handled it very well. The director has also put more effort into getting the science and scenery right than the original book did, and we'll see how that goes. Whether it will be a great film I can't say, but I promise you that I'll be watching it shortly after it comes out, with a large number of friends from CERN, laughing uproariously whenever we see anything we recognize.

Ha! A blogger on Stephanie's page bemoaned that CERN had to 'pander'[ my word] to Hollywood. Just a few thoughts on that.

a) It's been a while since a Major movie star (and director, for that matter) came to MY place of employment.

b) Please. You get to work on perhaps the most profoundly fundamental scientific research project of a generation... let them gawk. :-)

c) I think the old phrase "all press is good press" applies to the LHC. Better a million pop-culture consuming enthusiasts with only vaguely realistic understanding , than being relegated to having a few nut-jobs with an agenda and broad cultural indifference.

d) It's going to be a great film.
