Winter is over

T-shirt and skis: Definitely not skiing!

T-shirt and skis: Definitely not skiing!

Now it is official: Winter is over. After the first strong hints last week, warm and sunny weather now arrived also in southern Germany, in time for the four day Easter weekend. The warm weather also means that the snow is rapidly dwindling in the Alps, so the ski season is now coming to an end. Of course there are year round possibilities on glaciers, but I’m not that addicted. So it is time to put the skis into hibernation (actually, I guess estivation would be a better word, but that seems to be so unusual that the spellchecker does not recognize it).

Time to put a thick coat of wax on the skis to keep them in good shape over the summer. Just bringing them to the shop would be way to boring, though, so I do this myself, on the balcony. This is actually the main use I have for an iron, since I buy shirts that don’t need ironing if you hang them up right after washing. Well, now the skis are stored in the cellar, waiting for first snow late this year.
