When we look at all these pretty pictures over the next few years, how will we spot the/a Higgs? :)

  3. Regina says:

    Hi Gimo,

Good question. Different theories postulate that the/a Higgs will have a specific decay chain unique to it (photons, b quarks… etc). We’ll look for these.

Feel free to ask more if you have more questions.

I regret to inform everybody that on 11/23/09, 20:13 GMT, as many feared would happen, a black hole was created which quickly sunk to the center of the Earth. Earth was sucked in shortly after, killing every inhabitant. My condolences on our loss.

  5. Wallmott says:

At what energy has the LHC made collisions?

  6. Gimo says:

    Hi Regina,

    Thanks!

Is there a legend or similar to go with the pictures?

Mark – Well spotted! Life inside the black hole is however eerily similar to that outside it…. switching between in and out every time LHC is fired up is goanna get tedious…

Fortunately, I was over at Alpha Centauri when the earth went, kickin it old school in my Centauri palace.

But seriously, just glad to hear things are really underway. Worth the wait?

  8. Lac Léman says:

7.864 TeV Energy is reported by op-webtools Vistar today.

What is that energy !? Did they already ramp up ?

  9. Wallmott says:

Hmm, that must mean something else.

From what i can see on the schedule they will with a little luck get to 1,2 TeV before the christmas break.

    Anyone here knows?
