Still alive…

I haven’t shown up in a good while, and there’s a reason for this: tomorrow I’m taking my first shot at the qualifying exams here at Madison. Most American schools require that their PhD students should pass this exam to continue towards their degree; you get 4 chances during the first 2 years, although this changes on a school-by-school basis.

I’m quite sure that I’m not going to pass on this first chance, so I don’t have high hopes for tomorrow. Anyway, you never know, maybe the physics fairy will be in a good mood tomorrow and may be willing to illuminate me, we’ll see.

I hope that after tomorrow I’ll be able to go back to write a bit more about my work here.

PS: There’s a PhD Comics strip for every ocassion 🙂
